Juice, our Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, is on its journey to Jupiter, and its flyby of Earth and the Moon on 19-20 August 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. The probe’s optical camera, JANUS, captured impressive images during this high-stakes manoeuvre.

During the double flyby, JANUS tested its capabilities by capturing images at various intervals and under different conditions, sometimes even intentionally ‘blurring’ them to refine our understanding of image recovery techniques.

Next up for Juice: a Venus flyby in 2025!
