Do you remember when Rosetta made history? ☄️

On 6 August 2014, our Rosetta spacecraft made history by becoming the first mission to rendezvous with a comet, Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This groundbreaking achievement opened up a new chapter in our understanding of the early Solar System.

Rosetta’s journey was nothing short of epic. After a ten-year, 6.5 billion km voyage through space, Rosetta not only successfully orbited the comet but also deployed the lander Philae, which performed the first-ever landing on a comet’s surface. Over the course of its mission, Rosetta provided us with unprecedented data, revealing the comet’s complex structure and composition, and even capturing stunning images of its dusty, icy landscape.

After two glorious years, Rosetta’s journey ended in a daring descent onto the comet’s surface, continuing to send invaluable data until its very last moment. This daring end marked a fitting conclusion to a mission that continuously pushed the boundaries of space exploration.

Join us in celebrating this extraordinary milestone and the relentless spirit of human curiosity and ingenuity that makes such achievements possible.
