🇵🇱 Zdobywanie 🗻 górskich szczytów to jedna z moich pasji, więc gdy patrzę na to zdjęcie ośnieżonych Alp, wykonane przez astro_andreas, serce mocniej mi bije. Bije też mocniej na samą myśl, że może wkrótce i ja będę mógł spojrzeć na świat z perspektywy Cupoli 🌍

#Cupola, czyli kopuła umieszczona na Międzynarodowej Stacji Kosmicznej, to obserwatorium, z którego astronauci widzą Ziemię i ciała niebieskie. Nie tylko zachwycają się widokami, ale przede wszystkim badają zmiany zachodzące na naszej planecie – pustynnienia, topniejące lodowce. Mogą dostrzec także zjawiska atmosferyczne, burze piaskowe, huragany czy udokumentować rozmiary katastrof ekologicznych, jak np. wycieki ropy. Tej pracy człowieka nie zastąpi satelita 🧐

Cupola ma także techniczne zastosowanie – dzięki niej astronauci mają m.in. podgląd operacji wykonywanych automatycznym manipulatorem, manewrów dokowania wahadłowców czy pozwala im na przegląd i ocenę stanu technicznego zewnętrznych urządzeń 🛰

🇬🇧 Mountain climbing 🗻 is one of my passions, so when I look at this photo of the Alps covered in snow, taken by astro_andreas, my heart beats faster. It also beats faster when I think that soon it might be me looking at the world from the Cupola's perspective 🌍

The Cupola, which is a dome situated on the #ISS, serves as an observatory from which astronauts can see Earth and celestial bodies. Not only can they admire the view, but primarily they study the changes taking place on our planet – desertification, or melting glaciers. They can also observe atmospheric phenomena, dust storms, hurricanes, or document the extent of environmental disasters, such as oil spills. This human work cannot be replaced by a satellite 🧐

The Cupola also has a technical application – it allows astronauts, among other things, to monitor operations performed by an automatic manipulator, docking manoeuvres performed by shuttles, and enables them to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of external equipment 🛰
