Indigenous Peoples Day is a time to recognize the Ramaytush Ohlone (Yelamu) people—the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. 

Before 1769, an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 Ramaytush lived here, and though only one lineage remains, their descendants continue to carry forward traditions that have shaped this region for thousands of years.

#IndigenousPeoplesDay is more than a celebration—it’s a reminder to listen, learn, and uplift Indigenous voices. Across the Bay, communities gather in ceremony, music, dance, and art to reclaim stories, remember resilience, and affirm survival.

Today and every day, we honor their strength, their stories, and their enduring connection to this land.
