With all the baking, crafting, and decorating happening this season, small burns are bound to happen, but knowing what to do right away makes a big difference.⁠

✅ Cool it under running water (not ice!) for about 10 minutes⁠
💧 Apply plain petroleum jelly a few times a day⁠
🚫 Skip the butter or toothpaste: they can trap heat or cause infection⁠
🩹 Cover lightly with a nonstick bandage⁠
☀️ Once healed, keep it protected from the sun to avoid discoloration⁠

Most first-degree burns heal quickly, but if it’s large, blistering, or on a baby or older adult, get it checked out.⁠
