🚨 So let me get this straight — we got the National Guard, FBI, Marshals, ICE, and THP all patrolling Memphis streets… and now they don’t even want us recording them doing it?

Welcome to the new “buffer law.”
A Tennessee law that lets officers force you to stand 25 feet back anytime they’re “engaged in official duties.”
Translation: they can decide, on the spot, how close you can be — no matter if you’re a bystander, journalist, or community member with a phone.

This is bigger than just one encounter.
It’s about accountability.
The same cell phones that exposed police brutality across America — from George Floyd to Tyre Nichols — are the same ones they now want pushed 25 feet away.

They call it “public safety.”
We call it silencing the people.

The Memphis Safe Task Force was announced to “end street and violent crime,” but now we’re watching a different kind of violence — the kind that happens when transparency disappears.

Memphians deserve safety and accountability.
We can support peace in our streets without giving up our right to watch, document, and question what’s happening in our neighborhoods.

Cameras don’t kill truth — they protect it.
And if the law says “step back,” we still gon’ speak up.
