Romy Mars, daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Sofia Coppola and musician Thomas Mars, has garnered attention on TikTok for questioning why “UC Berkeley asked (her) to be a speaker at their college.”

Campus, in fact, did not ask her to speak.

Instead, Mars was invited by a campus club, The Berkeley Forum, a student organization “committed to serving as an accessible forum that delivers on our mission of discourse,” according to its website.

“What’s going on? I don’t even know what you want me to give advice on. I was born into this. I don’t have work ethic,” Mars said in a TikTok posted Monday.
