The remains of Samuel Bird have been identified. 💔🕊️

The remains of 14-year-old Samuel Bird, a member of Paul First Nation, have been located — his mother, Alanna Bird, and community leader dakotabearofficial confirmed Thursday.

Samuel had been missing since June 1, when he left his west Edmonton home to visit a friend.

For months, community members, volunteers, and family searched the Edmonton area, with recovery efforts and prayers extending across Turtle Island.

In a post today, dakotabearofficial, who has been volunteering in the search since summer, wrote:

“We found Samuel Bird. After months of prayer, searching, and ceremony, Samuel Bird has been located. Our hearts are shattered, but there’s peace in knowing he’s coming home.”

The family is asking for privacy, prayers, and respect as the investigation continues.
