When I first arrived to Washington DC nearly 33 years ago, DC Central Kitchen welcomed me with open arms and taught me how food had the power to improve lives. 

Today, on World Food Day, I’m thrilled to announce that the dccentralkitchen Healthy Corners program has distributed over 3.8 MILLION healthy food items…working with mom and pop corner stores, markets, and bodegas to help put an end to food deserts in our city. 

I’m so proud to support this amazing program through my Longer Tables Fund, powered by the Bezos Courage & Civility Award. Food is love…food is dignity…and together, we can make sure that every American family has access to healthy, affordable food in their community. #WorldFoodDay #LongerTables
