A suspect who'd been chased by police from Hale County into Northport early this morning is dead after getting into a shootout with Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputies just off the bridge from downtown Tuscaloosa into Northport.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office got involved around 2:30 a.m. after the suspect vehicle, which was already being chased by the Hale County Sheriff's Office and Moundville Police Department, entered Tuscaloosa County.

TCSO successfully spiked the vehicle's tires and it came to a stop at Bell Auto Parts at 410 Bridge Ave. in Northport, right next to the off ramp from Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard onto Fifth Street.
