Breaking Records Before Breakfast: Tie-Down Roping History at Sisters Rodeo

Sisters Rodeo may be known as the Biggest Little Show in the World, but when it comes to tie-down roping, our arena has become one of the fastest in the sport. And if you’re not in the stands Thursday morning for the FREE timed-event performance known as Slack, you’re missing where history is made before most folks have had their second cup of coffee.

The chase for the arena record began in 2017, when Weston Hughes blazed through with a 7.6-second run, setting the standard for a record that would hold for nearly a decade! Hughes, a Texas hand and NFR qualifier, is known for his sharp loop, quiet confidence, and ability to deliver when the pressure's on.

Then came the challengers in 2025.

Then came Tanner Green, who dropped the hammer at 7.4 seconds. The multiple-time NFR qualifier paired horsepower with hustle and reset the record, and would ultimately go on to win the Sisters Rodeo tie-down title. But he surprisingly wouldn't win Round 1.

Kincaid Henry followed with a 7.1-second heater, showcasing why this next generation of tie-down ropers is winning across the country with explosive speed and control.

And then… the mic drop.

Riley Webb, your 2023 World Champion, ran a 6.9-second run, breaking the 7-second barrier and shattering the arena record. His name now sits at the top of the leaderboard on the crow’s nest wall!

But ask them who deserves credit?

It may or may not be JJ Harrison, our iconic rodeo clown and the voice of Slack. His humor, energy, and hype might just have been the spark behind three record-breaking runs and two ties - all in one morning! Or at least according to him! 😉

Don’t sleep on Slack. Thursday morning is where legends are made.
