LIONS TAKE DOWN EAGLES: The jserra.girlstennis team went on the road Thursday and earned a key triumph, as the Lions defeated the Santa Margarita Eagles 13-5 in a Trinity League encounter at Santa Margarita High School in Rancho Santa Margarita.

JSerra is now 14-2 overall and 3-0 in league.

The two teams played a down-to-the-wire thriller in their first league meeting on October 7, with the Lions winning the match in the final set of the day.

Thursday’s rematch saw the Lions forge a 7-5 lead after the first two rounds of action before claiming all six sets in the final round to seal the win.

As was the case in the two prior meetings between the two rivals this season, the Lions’ doubles play fueled their court effort.

Junior Naomi Clarke and sophomore Ava Levitanus kicked started that effort with a sweep by scores of 6-0, 6-0, and 6-2.

Sophomore Brookelyn Garcia and freshman Paisley Crutchfield also claimed three wins by scores of 7-5, 7-5, and 6-2.

Sophomore Julianna Johnson teamed with sophomore Milana Leffler for a 7-5 victory and then produced a 6-0 triumph with sophomore Dylan Henderson.

Freshman Madison Mann enjoyed two wins in singles action, winning by scores of 5-0 (opponent retired) and 6-1.

Sophomore Isabella Geffre was also a dual winner in singles competition, claiming victories of 6-3 and 6-0.

Senior Peyton Salas added a 6-2 singles triumph.
