Hi, I’m Bri - the CEO here at Atlantic Sea Farms. I am taking over our social feed today because its International Women’s Day - and I have a lot to say. Allow me a quick second on my soapbox (before I get to the hope part - because you know we at ASF are driven every damn day by the hope we have for a better planet :) Did you know that less than 4% of all C-Suite positions in the global seafood chain are women despite the fact that over 50% of people involved in seafood production are women? Did you know that last year LESS THAN 2% of all venture funding went to women-run businesses? Let these statistics set in for a second... I’ll wait...

Now imagine a world where women are seeing equality in the seafood industry and where female entrepreneurs and leaders are funded to make their ideas into realities. What would happen then? Let’s imagine it. Let’s manifest it. Then let’s work toward it because this world and this future are too important to keep repeating the same mistakes we have made for centuries. We need new ways of thinking that empower local communities, that honor our planet and repair the damage we have done to her, and to use food as medicine to nourish and heal our people. We are working to do our small part at Atlantic Sea Farms. And you know the best part? There are more of us. Women in aquaculture, women in seaweed biomaterials and textiles, women leading the charge in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The chorus is growing and becoming more fierce - join us in our work to create a world for women to be empowered to lead in climate action. It our time to uproot the systems that have created this mess.
