My husband I typically draw straws to see who has to take the kids to out-of-state competitions, but this time the lucky winner was me. And honestly, given that he had to take our daughter to Atlantic City a few months ago, I think I won…

We are in the middle of nowhere PA (at least it feels that way given the surrounding farm land) but there’s actually a cute medium-sized downtown. I did my research and found a spot for dinner and I’ve gotta say, it was truly fantastic. Like, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy every dish as much as I did! (It helps that I had my mini-me foodie-lover in tow).

Nora got whipped ricotta with honey, almonds, and figs — wouldn’t change a thing! And because she’s a cheese lover, she followed it up with a ricotta gnocchi in a creamy tomato sauce.

I started with a pesto Caesar salad that I will 1000% be recreating the second I get home. Pesto + Caesar dressing? Genius. And the braised mussels I had were some of the best mussels I can remember eating.

We grabbed a couple desserts to bring back to the hotel and — surprise, surprise — they’re phenom. Harrisburg freakin’ PA. Who knew?!
