## Caption

Fans of a certain age recall the days when Japanese stars, such as Masahiro Tanaka and Hideki Matsui, took pride in signing with the Yankees. Hideki Irabu and Kei Igawa flamed out in New York, but the fact remains, they were stars with promise who thought it was worth playing here. Cashman can blame East Coast bias all he wants, but this team isn’t that far removed from having a rotation where the 1 and 2 were Masa and Hiroki Kuroda.
