#TSRTech: Tech company #OpenAI has announced that, following discussions with the estate of #MartinLutherKingJr., it is pausing the depiction of Dr. King on #Sora, its short-form video tool.

In a statement posted to X, the company said, “Some users generated disrespectful depictions of Dr. King’s image. So at King, Inc.’s request, OpenAI has paused generations depicting Dr. King as it strengthens guardrails for historical figures.”

The statement continued, “While there are strong free speech interests in depicting historical figures, OpenAI believes public figures and their families should ultimately have control over how their likeness is used.”

According to cnbc, OpenAI, which is the company behind ChatGPT, launched Sora at the end of September. The AI tool allows users to create short videos using a text prompt.
