#ad 🚗🚙Eddie is almost 15 and we are just starting to explore him learning how to drive. 😳 My friends kiausa partnered with racecar champ Doug Herbert on the putonthebrakes program (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) to help prepare teens—and parents—for the road ahead. 🚘

This teen driving program has already trained over 150,000 teens and parents in safe driving skills 👏.

B.R.A.K.E.S. was founded by Doug, and Kia has been a proud partner for 12 years. Kia America supports the program by lending a fleet of cars—like the Soul, Telluride, and Sportage—for training. That kind of support makes a huge difference for this nonprofit. 🙌

The main goals? 👉 Prevent accidents. Save lives. Teach safe driving habits that stick.

The core defensive driving course is available for eligible teens (ages 15–19 with a learner’s permit or license and at least 30 hours of driving experience) and their parents. To hold your spot, there’s a $99 refundable deposit. As a non-profit, B.R.A.K.E.S. relies on donations and sponsorships to keep the program free. After class, you can request your deposit back or choose to donate it to support their mission of saving lives. 💙

And let me tell you—the exercises are eye-opening:

📚 You’re handed a book to read while driving (hello, distraction test!)
⚙️ The car gets shifted into neutral while moving to practice regaining control
🔊 Volume cranked up and down to simulate chaos behind the wheel
👓 Fatal Vision Goggles (wow… impossible to drive with, and the only thing impaired was my vision!)

This program goes way beyond the basics:

✨ Hands-on practice with pro instructors
✨ Real-world safety skills like accident avoidance, panic braking & skid recovery
✨ Confidence for both teens and parents

As a mom, I give this program a 10/10 and cannot recommend it enough. I can’t wait for Eddie to experience it firsthand! 💙🙌
