As a mom, I’m always striving to stay informed about my children’s health and know the right questions to ask their doctors. For example, at 16, Ryder is part of an age group (16- to 23-year-olds) at an increased risk for contracting meningococcal disease, known as meningitis, which can spread through certain everyday activities like sharing drinks, close contact, or coughing and sneezing – things that teenagers like Ryder are doing. While many teens and young adults have received vaccination to help protect against meningitis serogroups A, C, W, and Y, they may still miss vaccination for meningitis B.
