Thank you TIME for naming me as one of the “Titans” on your first-ever TIME100 Creator List!!! I am deeply honored!

As a 56-year-old woman, I am also proud to be one of the oldest people on the list, not in spite of my age but because of it.

It proves what I say to you every week on themelrobbinspodcast: it’s never too late and you’re never too old to start creating the life you’ve always wanted.

When I started posting online back in 2012, 
I wasn’t “trying” to go viral. I was just trying to book a few speaking gigs so I could pay our bills and get out of debt. That’s it. Just me, a married mother of 3, hoping someone would take me seriously and hire me.

In the beginning, every post felt cringey.

Every. Single. Post.

I’d spend hours crafting the “perfect” thing. I’d have to give myself a 10-minute pep talk before hitting “post,” and when I finally did it, I’d then check it obsessively. Five minutes would pass, and if the likes or comments weren’t what I was hoping for, my insecurity would kick in and I’d delete it.

I created hundreds of draft posts...and
they would just sit there, staring back at me for years.

So here’s my message to you:

There is no secret formula.

It’s you against you. The only difference between you and most of us on the #TIME100Creators list is that, despite how cringey it felt in the beginning, we got started and kept going. Day after day. Year after year. And in my case, 13 years later, here I am… 
And that’s how you’re going to change your life, too.

So start now. Even if you’re afraid of what people might think. 

In fact, just use The Let Them Theory.

If they roll their eyes? Let Them.

If they judge you? Let Them.

You’re not creating for them...
You’re building something for YOU.

You don’t need to be perfect. You need to begin.

Your future self will thank you, and so will I.

And in case no one else tells you, as your friend, I want to tell you that I love you and I believe in you and your ability to create a better life. Forcing yourself to do the things that you don’t feel like doing is exactly how you do it. Xo Mel
