B A D L A N D S  1 0 // jacktheradiomusic’s album #Badlands turned ten and I’m looking back at some special moments. 

I’d always dreamed of writing and singing a duet and that moment magically found its place on this record among some of JTR’s heaviest hitting big rock songs, slide guitar, and synthesizers. I approached writing the song with this idea of a couple growing apart where each verse was them individually recognizing the situation, and the third and final verse was the two together acknowledging the end. I was a big fan of elizabethjanesings of deltarae amazing voice and in the spirit of dreaming big I reached out. At the time they were signed to Warner Bros. Records and were playing festivals like Lollapalooza and Farm Aid.

After some conversations, a little paperwork, and planning around tours, Liz joined us in the studio! mikemckeedrums was even able to join and he added some great percussion to several songs, and joined for a live and unplugged version of “CRIMINALS” in the studio (swipe to see some video)! Shout out to the band with jtrdanny on lap steel and keys, vallicruz on acoustic guitar, revolu on drums, and thechrisleeland on bass.
