I made a mistake that I'm not proud of.

Though I was trying to repent, I kept falling back to the same place where I was before. So when my friends asked if I was going to FSY, I was very hesitant. I didn't feel worthy of participating. I’d realized that I didn’t have a testimony of my own—I'd always leaned on the testimonies of my parents and brother. Nothing felt right during that time. Luckily, my friends pushed me to go to FSY.

At first, I thought I would just go and socialize. Growing a testimony wasn’t really part of the plan. But each morning, we picked our own gospel topic to study and learn about in the scriptures. One morning, I picked forgiveness. I kept asking myself the same question: “How can He forgive me when I've messed up over and over again?” As I pondered, I learned so much about Jesus Christ.

I didn’t think I would be able to say anything at the testimony meeting at the end of FSY because I didn’t really know what was true. But when the time came, I bore my first testimony that was truly mine. I felt the Spirit and God’s love so strongly. Repentance was still a hard process, but the Spirit I felt at that testimony meeting drove me to keep going. I know now that my sins do not define me. No matter how many times we sin, God will always love us, and He'll help us come back to Him. —Jarom #LookUntoChrist
