## Caption

I knew I had to give it up when I did. But what was going to keep me believing that? Here are my 3 reasons:

✨I couldn’t manage a limit. And I shamed myself for a long time because of that, but not anymore. Alcohol is a highly addictive substance and you aren’t weak for losing control to it. You are human. I tried many, many times to moderate my intake, and it took more energy to do that than to just stop all together. So I did. 

✨I hated how a hangover felt. This, of course, got worse with age, but I carried guilt for being too hungover to be present for my kids or be a productive person.  I started seeing my time as fleeting, because it is. And decided that no more could be spent wasted, being wasted. 

✨I didn’t know it then, but my self worth and confidence were all tied to drinking. I used alcohol as a comfort mechanism, to build myself up in social situations. This usually backfired as the day after would be spent replaying  everything (I could remember) back and it left me confused and insecure. Without alcohol, I authentically love myself in a way I never could before. And I remember everything 🫠

Removing alcohol can be a lonely choice to make, but it was much lonelier sitting with my regret and insecurities. If you’re making this decision for yourself, I see you 🤍
