Former Florida State two-sport phenom Charlie Ward was a different breed at the university, as he prepares to be the first student-athlete in program history to have his jersey retired in football and basketball.

Ward was a Heisman winner and national champion on the gridiron, where he completed 473 of his 759 passes for 5,747 passing yards and 49 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. Plus, he added 889 yards and ten touchdowns on the ground. He also was used as a punter his freshman year where he had 35 punts for 1,297 yards.

The guard also averaged 8.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game on the hardwood. Plus, he is the current head basketball coach for the Florida A&M Rattlers.

He will have his basketball jersey (No. 12) retired and hung in the rafters at the Tucker Center before the Seminoles’ exhibition matchup against Florida A&M on Sunday, October 26th at 4PM. 🔥 #GoNoles #fsufootball #charlieward
