Turning 48 this year, I can honestly say I feel better now than I did in my late 30s and that may surprise you. But the truth is, my 40s taught me some powerful lessons about what it takes to feel strong, confident, energized and truly at ease in my body. And here are the 6 biggest ones:

1. Stop nibbling & grazing — I used to believe that “6 small meals” or constant snacking was the answer. In reality, I was constantly spiking my blood sugar, never giving my body a chance to burn fat. When I switched to 3 quality meals (plus a snack only if needed) my energy stabilised, cravings dropped and my body composition finally shifted.

2. Eat 40-45 g of protein at every meal — It’s not enough to “have some chicken.” Your body needs a therapeutic dose of protein to build muscle, stabilise blood sugar, and keep you full for hours. Once I committed to this, I finally started seeing the muscle tone and metabolism boost I’d been chasing.

4. Fix your blood sugar & insulin response — In your 40s, your body changes. Grazing, stress, poor sleep = insulin resistance, belly fat, mood shifts. By prioritising protein first, pairing carbs with fiber and training for resistance I finally broke the cycle.

5. Sleep matters more than one more workout — No matter how “clean” your diet is or how hard you train, poor sleep will sabotage it. Consistent bedtimes, morning sun, cooling down your room: these were game-changers.

6. Build lean muscle instead of endless cardio — I used to chase hours on the treadmill. In my 40s I learned muscle is your metabolism’s best friend. Focusing on resistance training changed my body, my confidence and my results.

If you’ve been trying harder and still not seeing results, it’s not your fault but it’s probably your approach.

Inside my LEAN Program, we build this exact blueprint: protein, blood sugar balance, sleep, strength and smart meals that fit your life (even if you’re juggling kids, work and real food).

If you’re ready to feel your best decade yet, comment “BEST 40s” and I’ll send you all the details.
