The Offspring, When We Were Young 2025

REVIEW: There are few certainties in this life, but The Offspring being absolutely brilliant is always going to be something you can depend on.
That’s been the case for just over 40 years at this point, but to see it played out on the scale that it is here in Vegas cements it even further, an indicator of precisely why they have stayed so consistently at the peak of punk for so long.
There’s their enviable roster of songs, of course, from the skate-ready frills of ‘Want You Bad’ to the jaunty japes of ‘Why Don’t You Get A Job’?, the endlessly infectious ‘You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid’ to the forever rallying ‘The Kids Aren’t Alright’.
But then there is also their penchant for a surprise, too. In this case, it’s an appearance from the original fly guy, Guy Gohen, who still manages to fit into his 1998 threads, for the iconic ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’ and a thrilling firework display at the close of a sensational ‘Self Esteem’, a nod to the past as much as an opportunity for a party.
Punk-rock may have started in bars and basements, but being able to present it at this magnitude without losing any of its fire is an opportunity that should always be taken.
As long as The Offspring are around, that won’t be a problem.
