We got a first look (and taste) inside Toronto’s newest Filipino restaurant back in August (better late than never 🙈 )—and it’s truly one of a kind, we just couldn’t pass up on sharing! From the power couple behind PAI, Kiin, and Sabai Sabai, chefnuitregular, her husband and Jeff Regular and his brother de_la_jo3l bring us their most personal project yet.

Located in a barangay-inspired space at the south east corner of Church & Richmond, Makilala blends family recipes, bold flavours, and joyful nostalgia under one roof. Think: oxtail kare-kare, lobster palabok, house made (ya read that right) pan de leche with durian butter, ube slush, and KARAOKE every Tuesday night. 🎤 How many wanna bet they’ve had Golden performed at least twice a night? ✋ 👀 

The VIBE is full-on community—from the sari-sari bar named after Jeff’s parents, to the basketball court floors and a Filipino vendor market at the front. It’s a cultural experience unlike anything else in the city—and exactly what the neighbourhood needs.
