Justin Severino was the talk of the town in 2015.

Born in Ohio and trained under some of the finest chefs in California, Severino brought back a butcher’s box of culinary knowledge from the West Coast that helped push Pittsburgh dining forward into its modern era. His first restaurant, Cure, garnered accolades near and far from the moment it opened on New Year’s Eve 2011.

A few years after opening Cure, Severino and his wife and business partner, Hilary Prescott-Severino, decided to branch out with a regional Spanish-influenced concept inspired by the couple’s trip to various parts of the country.

“I remember thinking, ‘There's nothing like this in Pittsburgh as we were eating through places like Asturias and San Sebastian,’” Severino says.

Straightaway after morcillapgh’s December 2015 opening: heaps more praise, local and national. Perhaps even more than the love shown to Cure, which closed in 2019.
