The UN relief agency (UNRWA) has expressed its dismay at the blocking of border crossings into Gaza and demanded Israel lift the blockade for humanitarian aid.⁣

The Israeli government has blocked UNRWA operations in the West Bank and Gaza, citing the alleged staff involvement with Hamas which has led to major operational issues on the ground for the UN agency. ⁣
⁣
UNRWA spokesman Adnan Abu Hasna told CGTN: "The situation is worsening. 90% of Palestinians still suffer from malnutrition.⁣
⁣
"There was an aggressive media and political smearing campaign by Israel, globally accusing UNRWA of terrorism. The only service we are not able to provide is the delivery of aid. ⁣
⁣
“We have 6,000 UNRWA-owned aid trucks waiting at the border crossing that can cover Gaza for three months. They contain hundreds of thousands of all types of aid. Israel is blocking us.”⁣
⁣
After the UN’s top court ruled last week Israel was obligated to allow UNRWA to deliver Gaza aid, Israel said it would “not cooperate with an organization that is infested with terror activities.”⁣
