## Caption

Our family’s unanimous vote for a family vacation was to return to the North Shore in Oahu, where we spent a week last summer. This year, we added three extra days to the trip to explore the Big Island. Here are the details and tips.

📍ACCOMMODATIONS

In the Big Island, we stayed at @bigislandbeachhouse .  We also spent two days at @westinhapuna . 

🏄‍♀️ACTIVITIES : We love outdoor adventure with our kids so these are the family friendly activities we enjoyed the most. 

Oahu
🌺 Coastal trail rides with @turtlebaystables . 
🌺 Surfing with @ohanasurfproject . We love instructor, Chelsea, and consider her a friend now. @chelholew 
🌺 Hawaiian outrigger canoes and pup surfing / paddleboarding with @nsog_hawaiisurfdogs . 
🌺 Waimea Falls and Manoa Falls are both family friendly hikes. 
🌺 @alohakailuau is amazing 
🌺 Lanikai Beach is the best beach I’ve been to in my life. 
🌺 There are 12 ways to tour @kualoaranch , where movies like Jurassic Park, Jumanji, 50 First Dates and over 100 more were filmed. We love the ATV tour. Each car fits 6 people. 

Big Island
🌺 The manta ray night swim in Kona is the best experience on this island. We booked ours through @aliioceantours . Highly recommend this one. 
🌺 Punalu’u Beach is one of only 13 black sand beaches in the world. 
🌺 Volcanoes National Park is the draw on the Hilo side of the island. Although educational to see the volcano, very underwhelming for kids. We couldn’t find parking anywhere so could not do much of the park. 
🌺 Green Sand Beach on Mahana Beach is one of only four green sand beaches in the world. 

*Although we loved our days on the Big Island, it isn’t overly family friendly because of many rocky beaches and strong currents. Westin Hapuna was a great place to spend the day though where I didn’t worry. 

🍦Dining

@sunriseshack is a viral sensation in Oahu and offers up fresh smoothies and acai bowls on the side of the road. So good! 

@naluhealthbar is another great place for healthier options
