It was another action-packed weekend for Northwood cricket, filled with dominant performances, brilliant individual displays, and valuable lessons across all age groups. 🏏

The 1st XI continued their fine form against Clifton, dismissing their opponents for just 105 thanks to a sharp spell from Matthews (4/28). White (47 not out)* led a composed chase to seal a confident five-wicket victory. In their SA20 fixture against Ashton, Northwood were even more ruthless — Mills (45) and McGlashen (35) laid the platform before Amla produced a phenomenal spell of 6/5, skittling Ashton for only 50 to secure a 102-run win.

The 2nd XI impressed again, with Amla (4/17) and Nicholson (3/18) combining to bowl Clifton out for 92, completing a 61-run victory after a steady batting effort. The 15A side also delivered a strong performance, with Willis (5/44) starring with the ball and Anderson (45)* guiding the chase home. The 15B team showed their consistency, defeating both Ashton and Howick, with Moir (6/6) producing an unforgettable spell against Howick High.

In the younger age groups, van der Walt (6/37) was exceptional for the 14A side as they eased past Clifton, while Green (100)* and Axelrad (54, 4/8)* powered the 14B team to a massive win over Hillcrest. The 14D team also shone, with Titus (100)* and Miles (5/22) leading a commanding 215-run victory. Poona was another standout, scoring 63 and taking 5/6 in the 14C win over Thomas More.

There were, however, a few tough outings. The 14E team fell short against Howick High after battling hard with the bat, and the Social 1 team came up against a strong WBHS side. Both results serve as valuable learning opportunities, and the boys can take pride in their effort and commitment on the field.

Overall, it was a weekend that highlighted Northwood’s depth and spirit. With centuries from Titus and Green, and exceptional bowling from Amla, Moir, van der Walt, Poona, Willis, and Miles, the school can be proud of another round of performances that reflect talent, teamwork, and true Northwood character. 🔵⚪️
