My first day at nasa, 21 August 2017, there was a solar eclipse. Nearly everyone at nasajohnson was outside with their eclipse glasses watching. A photo of the “ring of fire” from the annular eclipse the other day as viewed from space would have fit perfectly, as I would like to say things have really come “full circle” now that I’ve seen an eclipse from space. 

Unfortunately, we had some blockage from solar arrays for our view of the full annular eclipse. On our second pass, we didn’t quite have a full annular eclipse, but we did have a better view. It took me a little bit to get acquainted with the photography equipment so most of my better photos were from the latter half of the eclipse. While I was taking photos of the eclipse itself, Satoshi was taking photos of the umbra, or the shadow cast on the Earth.
