From a shelter in Westmoreland, Sharon Atkinson, a resident of 137 Dalling Street, is appealing to the Government for urgent assistance as her home continues to deteriorate.

“My home has gone. The floor bottom is gone, and the house is going because it’s over 30 years old,” she told the Jamaica Observer’s Rosalee Wood Condell. “I’m asking Mr Holness and Mr Golding to see if they can get a house for me… I have an amputated leg and the other one has a big wound. I’m not working, I have to beg and ask people for help.”

Atkinson said she checked into the shelter last night after her brother in England arranged a taxi to take her there. “We need some help here, please — really need some help. No food, and I need something like a kettle so I can make a little tea in the night when I’m hungry.”
