Born Panayiotis Vassilakis in Athens, Takis (1925–2019) was a leading figure in the kinetic art movement of the 1960s.⁠
⁠
A self-taught artist who described himself as an ‘intuitive scholar’, Takis expanded the boundaries of art, taking it into realms previously belonging to experimental physicists.⁠

In honour of the 100th anniversary of his birth, explore curator-led walkthroughs of Takis’ exhibitions, read a recent publication dedicated to his life and work, and discover his major retrospective at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Greece on view now until 2 November 2025.⁠
