When the government shuts down, the people shouldn’t shut out. 💯

Right now, thousands of families across Memphis and Shelby County are feeling the weight of the federal SNAP benefits freeze — folks who work hard, raise kids, take care of elders, and still have to worry about where their next meal will come from.

That’s why the City of Memphis and Shelby County Government, alongside United Way of the Mid-South, Mid-South Food Bank, Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, and a network of local nonprofits and faith partners, have launched #MemphisCares — a citywide relief initiative to make sure no family goes hungry while Washington plays politics.

The City has already pledged $500,000 to boost food access, and now the community is being challenged to match that amount. Every dollar helps strengthen local pantries, extend service hours, and expand delivery to those who need it most.

No red tape. No proof of income required. No judgment — just dignity.

If you or someone you know needs food or rental/utility support, visit memphistn.gov/memphiscares or call LINC/211 through the Memphis Public Library to find nearby resources.

This is what Memphis does best — showing up for each other when it matters most. Because when the system stalls, the city steps up.
