SHISOSPICY is THAT girl! 🌶️ Though Saturday‘s GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint looked to be a tough one, facing off with a competitive group of males and two other formidable females, Shisospicy proved more than up to the task as she blazed her way into the history books with a 2 1/2 lengths victory. She is the first 3-year-old filly to win the race, and the seventh female overall to win it, while becoming only the eighth 3-year-old filly in Breeders’ Cup history to defeat older males.

A memorable first Grade I victory for the filly, and first Breeders’ Cup winner for trainer Jose D’Angelo, who quickly followed suit with a second winner in the form of GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Bentornato.

Shisospicy, crowned a ‘TDN Rising Star’ early on, is a multiple graded stakes-winning multimillionaire with a stellar record of six wins, one second and one third from nine career starts.

Bred by Bill Heiligbrodt & Corinne Heiligbrodt, the Mitole filly - her sire’s first Breeders’ Cup winner - is owned by Morplay Racing and Qatar Racing, ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr.

Ag Bullet, a 5-year-old mare, finished second behind Shisospicy in this year’s race, making it a grey filly/mare exacta.
