It’s been 15 years but it feels like yesterday! Patrick Sharp, I’ll never forget his name! 
That morning I found myself outside the police building where I worked as a 911 dispatcher being shot at 🤯 I was cowering behind a pillar that wasn’t wide enough, a pillar that took several rounds protecting me 🥹😳 I sat there crying, balling, praying, repeating “this isn’t happening” I see my friends, officers, trying to protect me, each other and our building. 
I can still so vividly see one of the officers proned out with a street curb as his only protection…he was firing shots back at this mad man, protecting us, all while the truck he’d set on fire burned around us. We found out later that the gunman had put ammonium nitrate fertilizer in the trailer of the truck with the intentions of blowing up the police building! He was trying to shoot as many people as he could and blow up the building! 
After what felt like an hour (it was just a few minutes) I see more officers flank out the sides, most in plain clothes…They ran past me, toward the gun fight, engaging the suspect who was firing from the wood line. 
A minute later my forever hero, my friend, an ofc we call Woody rushed to me, yelled at me to get up and stay on his back. I noticed he didn’t have his vest on, he was in plain clothes with his gun up pointing towards the shooter. He again told me to stay on his back and we ran! He ran backwards facing danger as I ran forward towards the building and safety. 
Over 100 rounds later the shooter was down and I was safe! We were safe! It was over!  I thank God for protecting us all that day! 🙏💕 it could have been so different - 💖 Lindy
