The WNBA and the Players Association have agreed to a 30-day extension to keep negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement – now due November 30. 🤝⁣

The extension follows a tense stretch of public back-and-forth between both sides. The WNBPA called out the league for a lack of urgency and “putting lipstick on a pig,” while commissioner Adam Silver defended the league’s stance, saying “share isn’t the right way to look at it” when asked if players deserve a larger cut of WNBA revenue. 👀⁣

At the heart of it all? How player pay is structured – and who gets a share of what. The union’s pushing for salaries to be tied to all WNBA business revenue (league and team), while the league’s latest offer reportedly includes a supermax near $850K and a veteran minimum around $300K. 💰⁣

This CBA also carries more weight than usual. The league’s preparing for two new expansion teams – the Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire – and can’t finalize expansion draft rules until a new deal’s in place. 😬⁣

If the two sides can come to an agreement by the new Nov. 30 deadline, the expansion draft could roll out in December, just like Golden State’s did last year.⁣
