Next week I’ll be in Austin, TX as @dancewithme holds its 2020 Nationals. It will be my first time back with my #DWMFAM in person, and no doubt the event will look different, as major precautions will be taking place, but certainly it won’t feel different. I’ll be in a room with people that I love. I’ve missed this dearly. As I move through this life aging faster than expected I’m starting to realize that the human interaction, the congregation of people from different walks of life, that experience of coming together with minds open and hearts ready to connect ready to heal, well those moments are the ones I look back and cherish most. I love people. I’m disappointed by them sometimes as well, in myself included, but there are moments that come around sometimes, like the one I got to share in the video above, that live with me forever. “what do I have thats rare that I can draw some pride from, some validation” well maybe there isn’t much in me, maybe that pride actually lies in what I can create for someone else, and it isn’t some grandiose accomplishment but rather a simple moment of genuine care. A moment of joy given to someone and in return to yourself. Thats my lil morning reflection, I hope this video of our star student Jodi, sparks some joy some gratitude some sense of “at the end of it all atleast we have eachother.” Matter of fact change that to atMOST we have eachother. If anything 2020 made me realize that, and miss it more than ever.❤️
