“Life’s not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”
.
Not sure who’s quote that is but it certainly applies to the dance world in this current time we’re in. We as a community had to rethink reimagine and keep pushing and dancing through the storm. This last few days I was privileged to celebrate two different communities that KEPT ON DANCING! @jennajohnson and I took part of an intensive at @prodigydancepac in Dallas, where we had the chance to work with some of the best young talent in Texas, share our knowledge and our passion with them. The masks were a challenge but after a while it was something we just accepted as part of the “storm” we had to dance through, and boy did we sweat our little hearts out dancing. As we entered into the weekend, we celebrated our first EVER virtual dance competition with my beloved #DWMFAM !! What can I say about this event, except how grateful and inspired I felt watching all of our students and teachers compete through two days, from multiple locations (Stamford, Soho, Midtown, Austin, Las Vegas, Ft. Worth, Houston, The Woodlands, Glen Rock, Fort Lee) over 2500 entries, including those that competed from their homes. Look here it is... I’m posting this video not for promo, or a pat on the back of the studio owners that are trying to keep dance alive when it’s nearly impossible to do so. No, this post is for EVERY single person out there that is “dancing through the storm.” My fathers favorite quote is “if there’s a will, there’s a way.” I want to celebrate every single teacher, every single person, that is willing to keep dance alive. Safely, thoughtfully, but the world has got to continue to dance. Much love to @dancewithme and everyone that made this event possible, we can’t wait for the next one. Already got some fun ideas we’re working on. And again a special thank you to Prodigy dance for having us, Ms. Camille, you are helping shape these kids futures, dance aside you’ve created an environment that is vital for the world of dance and for the world in general.
.
And here’s the plug. If you’re stuck and feel like you can’t move, start dancing. Whether it’s at home, or in a studio❤️
