besides seeing my lady shine tonight, this was definitely my highlight. Being a lifelong basketball fan, a fan of African American culture, and American History period meeting this man in person meant a great deal to me. We didn’t have a lengthy chat, as much as I wish we did, even being in his presence I felt very lucky. Kareem is beyond a legendary basketball player, in fact scoring more points than ANY other player in history. For the kids, yes that’s more than Lebron, or Jordan, or Kobe. This man is not just a legend on the court but was even more epic off of it, being a role model and an activist for his community.

Funny how playing pick up ball all those years as a kid hiding the fact that I was a dancer... I’ve now crossed paths with a hoop legend... on my court, the ballroom.
