During a ceremony at the WhiteHouse, VP Kamala Harris awarded former astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken the Congressional Space Medal of Honor for their bravery during NASA’s SpaceX Demonstration Mission-2 (Demo-2), which launched May 30, 2020.

The astronauts were the first to travel to the ISS aboard Demo-2, the first crewed mission of the Commercial Crew Program, and the first U.S. launch to the orbiting laboratory since the end of the Space Shuttle Program in 2011.
