Here’s what most people don’t realize 👇

Fluoride was first introduced into public water supplies and dental products long before today’s safety standards existed. It was classified as an “unapproved drug,” which means it was allowed to be sold and promoted under older laws, but it was never formally reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness like other medications.

For decades, we were told fluoride was a must for strong teeth. And yes, topical fluoride (like what’s in toothpaste) can help remineralize enamel. But systemic fluoride, the kind found in supplements or water, is a whole different story.

Recent studies are raising concerns about its effects on the gut, thyroid, cognition, and even metabolism in children. That’s why the FDA just announced new restrictions on fluoride supplements, saying the risks now outweigh the benefits in most kids.
