Could the New York Mets be linked to Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan this offseason?

The 29-year-old right-hander was being monitored by a number of teams leading up to the trade deadline, but nothing materialized.

Ryan, 29, enjoyed a career year, hurling 171 innings to the tune of a 3.42 ERA and 194 strikeouts.

For a Twins team that had a fire sale at the deadline, I don’t think anyone is off limits. Given the multiple years of team control, the Twins would be bound to receive a hefty package for Ryan. In addition, trading Ryan would ultimately bolster the Twins’ farm system, and the team has indicated a rebuild is in the works.

The Twins put a huge dent in any chances of competing next season and for the foreseeable future, which prompts the Twins to possibly looking into trading Ryan. Keep in mind, Ryan is coming off a season where he made $3 million, and his expected arbitration salary is projected at $6 million for the 2026 season.

I think Ryan is a perfect fit, and I could totally see this move being right up David Stearns’ alley. Young controllable arm set to make $6 million. The only caveat is that Stearns has to be willing to package multiple high-end organizational prospects. Ryan presents an absolute bargain with the low salary and years of control. Stearns should be all over this, as this is perhaps the best trade piece left in Minnesota with a retool in the plan.

Just to put the cost for Ryan in perspective: the Boston Red Sox were linked to him and reportedly had multiple top-100 MLB prospects on the table, but the Twins didn’t bite. #Mets #LFGM #JoeRyan
