## Caption

Proposition 50, a legislative amendment to California’s constitution, has passed.

The proposition will temporarily override the actions of the Independent Redistricting Commission and will install redrawn congressional maps to gain the Democratic Party more seats in the national legislature. 

While the redistricting proposed by Prop. 50 will not directly impact seats in Alameda County, campus unions and student groups have campaigned heavily for the bill. The special election at Eshleman Hall yielded a high student turnout.
