These artworks are traveling! 🛩️
We’re delighted to be one of several key lending institutions for tate Modern’s recently opened “Nigerian Modernism” exhibition, featuring these artworks and seven others from our significant holdings of modern African art.
The exhibition showcases the achievements of Nigerian artists working before and after the decade of national independence from British colonial rule in 1960. “Nigerian Modernism” opened earlier this month and will be on view through May 2026.
We love sharing artworks from our collection and seeing them play vital roles in such groundbreaking and timely exhibitions. If you find yourself in London, be sure to visit and make note of our loans, including the painting in the first slide by the pioneering Akinola Lasekan, which appears first in the entire rich and ambitious presentation of some 300 artworks by more than 50 artists!
