#ad Skip the takeout and make this CRISPY SESAME TOFU instead. As you know, I have been experimenting a lot lately with tofu as a main ingredient, and now that I know how to work with it, I absolutely love it. I am partnering with @u.s.soy to share this delicious recipe that will be on repeat in your kitchens. The tofu is nice and crispy thanks to the coating and then it gets baked in the oven and tossed in a stir fry and coated in a thick sweet and savory sauce. I love serving this over rice, but it’s also⁣
fantastic over a bed of lettuce.⁣
⁣
Makes 4 servings⁣
Sauce:⁣
1/3 cup hoisin sauce⁣
3 tb rice vinegar⁣
3 tb coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce⁣
1/2 cup water⁣
1 tb toasted sesame oil⁣
3 tb arrowroot or corn starch⁣
⁣
Tofu:⁣
2 blocks of extra firm tofu, pressed⁣
2 tb avocado oil⁣
2 tb coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce⁣
2 tb arrowroot or corn starch⁣
⁣
Stir fry:⁣
2 tb avocado oil⁣
2 bunches green onions, chopped into 1” pieces⁣
3 cloves garlic, mashed⁣
⁣
Preheat oven to 425F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. In a small bowl, add all of the ingredients for the sauce and whisk together well. Set aside. Next, break the tofu into pieces and add to a bowl. Toss with avocado oil, coconut aminos/soy sauce and arrowroot/cornstarch. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet, making sure the pieces don’t touch. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping at the halfway point. Remove the tray from the oven. Next, add 2 tb avocado oil to a pan over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, add the green onions. Saute for about 2 minutes, then add the mashed garlic, continuing to stir, but making sure the garlic doesn’t burn. Add the baked tofu, and then add the sauce, stirring to coat well. Once the sauce has thickened (about 2 minutes), remove from the heat. Serve over rice or lettuce and enjoy!⁣
