We are all trying to start the new year right – which means cooking more meals at home, eating more nourishing foods, and saving money! I’m sharing my top tips to help you do just that! 1. Cauliflower—buy a whole head of cauliflower and smash it on the counter to break up into small pieces with no mess. ⁣
2. Tomatoes – to extend their shelf life, place a paper towel in an open container and store stem side down.⁣
3. Grapes—to easily remove grime, fill a bowl with 1 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp salt. Let sit for 10 minutes then rinse.⁣
4. Cucumbers—to prevent them from getting soggy and last for 2 weeks, add a paper towel to a bag and wrap the cucumbers inside the paper towel and seal bag. Place in the fridge.⁣
5. Lettuce—do not wash. Store wrapped in paper towels to keep moisture out. For lettuce that comes in a clamshell, add a paper towel inside the container then place in the fridge.⁣
6. Berries—to make them last for 2 weeks, add 3 cups of water +1 cup of vinegar for 10 min. Rinse and dry thoroughly (this is key). Place in a container lined with paper towel. Cover and store.⁣
7. Broccoli—wrap the broccoli tightly in a paper towel to stay crisp.⁣
8. Herbs—trim stems and place in a container of water. For even longer, add a paper towel and cover with a bag. Store in fridge.⁣
