6 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR CHEESE LAST! 🧀 Follow @kalejunkie for more tips! This question was asked last week, so I thought I would share my tips for how to make your cheese last as long as it possibly can—cheese is $$ and there is nothing worse than when it gets moldy before you’ve had a chance to enjoy it! Here’s how:⁣
1. Never (EVER) store cheese in plastic wrap. Even if it came from the store that way, remove it immediately. Cheese needs to BREATHE! And if you leave it in the plastic, it will begin to taste like plastic.⁣
2. Wrap your cheese in cheese paper or parchment/wax paper, but make sure it’s not too tight or too loose. If it’s too tight, it can’t breathe and if it’s too loose, it will dry out and harden.⁣
3. For an extra layer of protection, place the wrapped cheese in a storage bag and seal. I am using a @stasherbag to be more eco-friendly.⁣
4. For cheeses that sweat a lot, such as cheddar and gouda, make sure to replace the cheese/parchment/wax paper every time you unwrap it. Reused materials won't give you the same breathable seal that you had before, so start fresh for longer lasting results!⁣
5. Store cheese in the warmest part of the refrigerator, such as the designated cheese drawer or the vegetable crisper drawer. ⁣
6. Write the date on the cheese, and remember that cheese is freshest on the day you bought it. ⁣

NOTE: I was taught that soft cheeses, like mozzarella, ricotta, chèvre, and burrata should be kept sealed in their original containers. ⁣
