Method 1: Place a wooden spoon on top of your pot and the water will not boil over the side of the pot. Th spoon destabilizes the bubbles as soon as they come into contact with the pot, and the bubbles don't have a chance to expand and the boiling water retreats. MAGIC.

Method 2: Place a small plate inside your pot, followed by the liquid. Bring to a gentle boil and watch as your pot doesn’t overflow!
