From robotics to drones to training autonomous vehicles through Mario Kart, UMD researchers are aiming to #DoGoodUMD through AI. 

Take a tour through just a few of our #AIMaryland projects:

RoboScout DTC (umdclarkschool): These Scout robots are designed to identify and triage injuries so first responders can better care for those in need.

Perception and Robotics (marylandroboticscenter): A pair of specialized drones, one of which can autonomously navigate emergency obstacles while the other can be used for agricultural monitoring.

S3AM Oyster Drone (umdclarkschool, umd_agnr, umdscience): This custom underwater drone navigates the Chesapeake floor to support precision oyster aquaculture. 

Mario Kart Machine Learning (umdaerospace): An AI system trained to drive Mario Kart tracks and prioritize safety, which can then make future self-driving vehicles safer. 

FoodSecureDMV: A voice bot that prompts anyone experiencing food insecurity to help them access resources while taking into account a variety of factors. 

GenAI Architecture (umdmappschool): GenAI can turn a hand-drawn image into a photorealistic design concept to assist designers with brainstorming, efficiency, and enriching conversation. 

SMART Lab Calico: This miniature wearable system performs a variety of tasks to assist the visually impaired.
